Analisis Potensi Pelepasan Kromium Hexsavalen Di Daerah Pertambangan Nikel

Abstract


Ketidakteraturan penambangan sumberdaya nikel di Indonesia menyebabkan banyak masalah lingkungan yang serius. Tumpukan batuan sisa pada waste dump penambangan nikel berpotensi sebagai sumber rembesan logam berat ke airtanah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi potensi pelepasan kromium hexsavalen yang dapat diakibatkan dari adanya kegiatan penambangan terhadap kualitas airtanah dan air permukan sekitar daerah pertambangan nikel. XRF (X-Ray Flourescence) dilakukan untuk mengetahui kandungan unsur dan mineral pada batuan. Toxicity Characteristics Leaching Procedure (TCLP) dilakukan untuk memperkirakan konsentrasi Cr6+ pada waste dump. AAS (Atomic Adsorption Spectrophotometer) untuk mengetahui kandungan Cr6+ pada sampel air permukaan dan airtanah. Hasil pengujian XRF kandungan Cr2O3 menunjukkan waste dump mengandung 2,409% – 2,985% Cr2O3 dengan rata – rata 2,729%. Hasil tersebut kemudian gunakan dalam analisis potensi pelindian laboratorium dengan TCLP, hasil menunjukkan kelarutan Cr (VI) sangat rendah yaitu dari ketiga sampel sebesar < 0,006 mg/l. Bedasarkan hasil tersebut maka dilakukan pengujian kandungan Cr (VI) dengan AAS pada beberapa sampel air untuk mengetahui hasil dari pelepasan atau pelindian Cr (VI) secara alami. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konsentrasi tertinggi Cr6+ sebesar 0.0462 mg/L pada sampel sediment ponddekat waste dump. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa logam berat Cr(VI) pada tumpukan batuan sisa dari waste dump dapat tertransportasikan kedalam airtanah maupun ke air permukaan.
