Abstract

The environment plays a vital role in supporting human mental health, with forests recognized as effective and affordable natural therapy spaces. One such form of nature-based therapy is Forest Healing, an activity that involves connecting with the forest to enhance physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This study aims to analyze the potential of Gunung Kunci Grand Forest Park (Tahura) in Sumedang as a Forest Healing site based on its forest environmental characteristics. The parameters follow the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 9006:2021, including vegetation density, temperature, humidity, slope level, and noise level. Data were collected from three main spots: amphitheater, observation post, and bunker. Results indicate that vegetation density is high, dominated by pine trees that release beneficial terpenes for respiratory health. Humidity levels are within the ideal range (68%) and noise levels are low (<40 dB). Although the average temperature exceeds the comfort standard (27.4°C) and some spots have steep slopes, these are acceptable if visitors are physically fit. Therefore, Gunung Kunci Forest Park has strong potential as a Forest Healing site, especially in the morning hours. These findings support the development of therapeutic forest-based tourism in West Java.
